Hatti Archer is to be awarded the bronze medal for the steeple chase at the European Championships in Barcelona in 2010.
Hatti finished 4th in the race but it was clear that she was the first clean athlete over the line. Rather than being crowned European champion and receiving the recognition and rewards that would have brought for her talent and hard work, Hatti finished behind three athletes who have all failed drugs tests.
Marta Dominguez, who finished second, has now been stripped of her silver medal in that race, and Hatti promoted to third place. Unfortunately, the two Russian athletes, Yulia Zaripova and Lyubov Kharlamova, who finished first and third and have been convicted of drugs offences have not been stripped of their medals.
